Oh my, January’s “Happy New Year” vibe extended all month long!
Cam has sent in three veeery interesting SG-1 recs. Rae’s Daniel Jackson vid, “Home” is a hard look at Daniel’s sufferings and really shows much of what has made him as strong as he is. I sometimes forget just how bad he’s had it, and this vid reminds me how much he’s overcome. In the humorous SG-1 category, Cam sent in “Vogue” by Nibikko and “Sibling Rivalry” by Brihana25. “Vogue” is so clever in the clip selection and I chuckled throughout much of the vid. It’s definitely a feel good vid and I’ll watch it for a quick “pick-me-up” many times. “Sibling Rivalry” is an odd little duck, and seeing the relationship of the team, especially Sam and Teal’c in such an amusing light is a treat.
JaniceHope’s recommendation of Corn_Child’s Firefly/Serenity vid, “Must Be Dreaming” is also a must-see new addition. It’s a River-centric vid full of the greatness that Corn_Child puts into every vid. Watch it right away!
Ana’s vid, “Dark Blue” is our first One Tree Hill vid, and I’m wowed by my interest in the show now that I’ve seen this vid. It’s a wonderful vid, whether you’ve seen the show or not or you are a shipper or not. The pacing and editing alone are enough to qualify this vid as a great one, and the relationship between the two stars of the vid just makes it all the better.
The final vid for this update is Di’s MirrorMask vid, “Illusion and Dream”. This vid is for everyone who has ever watched a fanvid, made a fanvid, or heard of a fanvid. This vid is the one that when you have company over, you say, “Wanna see something cool?” with a twinkle in your eye because you know that they’re in for an experience. The film the vid is from is strange and trippy, but the vid amplifies the strangeness of the dreamland with Di’s use of excellent pacing, transitions, and clip selection. Watch it today and I’ll bet you find yourself wowed and transported to a land of fantasy and imagination.
