Time To Change?

I have always required that all vids listed here be downloadable and permanently hosted.  I stll think that should be the case.  Another concern I’ve had is with streaming video.  It takes a pretty good computer and connection to be able to actually watch a vid on YouTube without having to wait for buffering.  Furthermore, YouTube compresses even the most perfect of vids into its own format, many times to the detriment of the quality of the vid.

That said, should we lift the rule about streaming video and allow vids hosted at YouTube, Imeem, Vimeo (which is actually quite good), etc.?

Thanks!

well… my very interesting opinion: ;) i know that vimeo allows downloads (if you’re logged in), so that may be an option - but otherwise, i agree with you: downloadable vids are much shinier (and in most of the cases, there is also a streamed version available). although i don’t think it’s necessary that the link has to be permanent, because many people upload (and reupload) to places like megaupload, mediafire, etc. & don’t have personal webspace.

Thanks, tearful-eye! The email responses I’ve received were pretty much in agreement as well. I’ll amend the rules to allow download sites. More vids…YAY!
