Notes: “California” by Corn_Child. Veronica Mars, Beaver through Mac’s eyes. The emotion in this vid is astounding. With her signature use of motion, fades and beautiful timing, Corn_Child manages to create a chilling and heartbreaking journey in under three minutes.

Vid Title: Atta Girl
Author: Charmax
Site: Bronze-Ambition
Notes: ‘Atta Girl’ is a vid based around Mac’s first episode and the journey she goes on. The song is fitting and the clips work really well. Basically there should just be more Mac videos around of this quality!

Vid Title: Time Bomb
Author: WickedRipePlum
Site: WickedRipePlum’s Fan Videos
Notes: “Time bomb” perfectly captures Logan’s instability without taking the “poor misunderstood Logan” route of most vids. It is angst free and refreshingly makes no excuses for Logan. He is what he is.

Vid Title: Colorblind
Author: whereistheluv
Site: Veronica Mars Music Videos
Notes: “Colourblind” has beautiful music, it’s a sad and emotional video, and it’s deep and touching. Plus the vidder has very appropriately enhanced the theme by using some good colour effects.

Vid Title: Where The Boys Are
Author: WickedRipePlum
Site: WickedRipePlum’s Fan Videos
Notes: Why you should download this vid:
Quite simply download it because it is the creepiest vid ever. At first it seems like an entirely inappropriate song choice - wrong era, wrong tone, just plain wrong. But that is the beauty of this vid. The date rape drug storyline could have had a really angsty track but the simple innocence of the music is what really gives the video its emotional impact. It is very rare for us to see Veronica helpless and the ironic clip choices here further emphasise the danger we, the audience, know she is in but that she herself has no idea about. It could easily have come across as weird or comedic but the editing is deftly handled so that what you get is a shiver down your spine.
So go and watch it just not late at night if you expect to sleep.

Vid Title: Feeling Good
Author: Astarte
Site: Creative Refuge
Notes: Why you should download this vid:
This is not your average LoVe video. I personally don’t see it as a LoVe video but some may do. There are a ton of individual points I would love to pick out but this is just a short rec so I’ll limit myself to some generalisations. Firstly the clip choices serve to emphasise what Veronica and Logan have in common via a series of comparative clips. Secondly there are some pretty spiffy split screens that add to the feeling of connectivity between the characters. Finally the colouring and tinting add an extra dimension to the video giving it a very distinctive look and feel. Astarte is a friend but friendship aside it is still one of the best Veronica Mars videos out there.

Vid Title: Nervous Breakthrough
Author: thedevilbunny
Site: Strange Glue
Notes: Why you should download this vid:
This is a really fast and funky vid and its editing style perfectly suits the show. What you will get from watching this is an overview of Veronica Mars showing Veronica’s relationship with the key characters. It has a particularly strong intro that draws you in; it is a great quality start with high impact that carries right through to the end shot. We see the two sides of Veronica; the strong detective and the vulnerable high school student. All the key figures in her life get their own moment in the spotlight and I particularly liked the section with Daddy Mars because, for me, their relationship is at the heart of the show. There are some clever effects employed here including some inventive speed changes.
It doesn’t really contain any spoilers so it is the ideal recruiter vid. You get the feel of the show without giving away any real plot details.

Vid Title: Deja Vu
Author: f1renze
Site: kitze productions
Notes: Why you should download this vid:
Watch it because it is the deepest Veronica Mars vid ever. It is heart breaking without being maudlin and it shows you exactly how much Lilly and Veronica mean to each other. Superficially it is Veronica seen through Lilly’s eyes, her efforts to solve Lilly’s murder and how messy her life becomes as a result. But it is so much more than that, its true strength is in the emotional impact of watching Veronica’s struggle, how driven she is to solve the murder and how much that costs her. There is a real sense of Lilly’s affection for Veronica that neither of them can move on until “one of us makes the other one come true”.
Even if the rest of the vid sucked (which it doesn’t) I would rec it for the sequence in the middle of the vid with a bewildered spinning Veronica intercut with scenes of her mom metaphorically turning Veronica’s world upside down “ moving, clever and yet not pretentious or cliched.
In short watch it because as far as I am concerned it is the best video of the show to date.
